THE HISTORY OF APACHE GRADERS, LLC
For over 30 years, Joe Luevanos has made his living from the earth. Born April 8, 1960 in Piedras Negras "Black Rocks" Coahilula, Mexico, he immigrated with his family in 1963. The family drove a 1956 Chevy across the border in Del Rio and rode the car until it ran out of gas in Florence Texas. Father Salvador and Mother Rosa Luevanos had very limited English skills, but managed to get work in a nearby ranch, and enrolled their children in the area elementary school. Years later, the Luevanos family found themselves living off of Bagdad Road and became one of the first established Latino families in the early '70's. All five children attended Leander High School.
Joe Luevanos has earned the reputation as "Rock Man" in the Crystal Falls area. If you asked Joe which area in Crystal Falls is he most proud of excavating, landscaping and creating various designs using the earth's natural elements, he would say Pasa Tiempo. If you ever get a chance to take a drive down Pasa Tiempo Street in the Grand Mesa 5 area, you will see work that you have never seen before. The concept of Apache Graders was talked about during the summer of 2004.
Apache Graders prides itself in the beautification of Crystal Falls home sites by using the earth's natural elements when the time comes for the clearing of the lots. It believes in the preservation of trees and limestone to make the home site a state-of-the-art area to be enjoyed for generations to come.
Currently, Apache Graders has a staff of 10-15 workers that consists of family members and close friends. All believe in the vision of the beautification of the surrounding area. The staff is slowly growing, which allows Joe to have more time to reflect and put the crazy ideas in his head on paper. Don't be surprised to see him driving in his red Ford 4x4 around Crystal Falls Parkway, and suddenly stopping to envision his next creation. When asked who has been his greatest inspiration, he would say his wife Yvonne, daughter Roxanne, and granddaughter Selene, but he would also say Mr. Bill Hinkley, who has given him the opportunity to allow the ideas in his head to be put down as one of the biggest attractions within the Crystal Falls community.
